Happy Birthday George Washington!

Does anyone else feel like this month has so many activities and events?  Last week we talked about Lincoln and Washington because we have so much to get done next week.  Here is a craft created by A Cupcake for a Teacher.  I did her Lincoln craft too!

I started the day by talking about George Washington and talking about all of the different "Washington facts."  I showed them a picture of him talked about how he is on money and how he was our first president.

We also watched a couple of videos that I found on Pinterest.

After we watched the videos, I read them a children's book: George Washington and the General's Dog. This is the cutest story ever about how Washington loved animals and even during the war, he found the enemy's dog and returned it because he believed that every dog should be with its owner...I had never heard this story before so I googled it, and came across this article saying it was true!  Click HERE to read it.

And for our finale, we made these adorable craft Washingtons!  Here are the steps:

Cut out the wig and face.
 Glue together.
 Draw the face.
Choose a feather...I think reaching in the bag and feeling the feathers was everyone's favorite part...
 And we have Mr. Washington!

Happy President's day everyone! Enjoy Monday off!!!
