I am so excited about this post today! Jessica Stanford at Mrs. Stanford's Class had a wonderful idea of having a "Product Swap!" We were all paired up to swap one of our products from our TpT Store and use it in our classroom! I am lucky to be paired up with Greg from Smedley's Smorgasboard of Kindergarten.
These cards are seriously my new favorite thing! Greg used the Common Core vocabulary words from within the standards to make vocabulary cards in kid friendly language. Each card includes a vocabulary word, simple description, a picture to help explain the word, and the actual standard on the bottom (for proof! :) He made two versions: one set of circle shaped cards and the other are rectangle. Here are what the cards look like:
Here are the cards printed and laminated, ready to use! I actually laminated them back to back, I wouldn't try that one again...
I decided to use the circle ones for my classroom! I can use the cards for so many things! The first thing I can do is use them to display the vocabulary words that we are learning for the week. Next year, I have a goal to make a math vocabulary board, so these are perfect for that. I will show each card when I introduce a new math concept to the kids!
Here are the words for the topic of numbers.
And vocabulary words for shapes...
I can't wait to use these ones for position words!
I also found another way to use them. I am always looking for new ways to display what I am teaching to my students to show the parents and administration. I like the idea of hanging these on the wall after I teach the new vocabulary, to showcase what standards we are learning that week in math.
I found a jumbo clothes pin and clipped a ribbon to it, then hung the weekly math standards on!
What I love about these Common Core Math Vocabulary Cards is that they are functional, big, bright, kid friendly, and contain proof of the standards! I hope you head over to Smedely's Smorgasboard of Kindergarten to show him some love on his awesome vocabulary cards!
